Monday, Monday

Only Monday and I'm ready for the week to be over. The kids have a serious case of cabin fever and I'm going nuts!! Friday night Kensley started crying with her throat and right ear so Saturday we headed straight to the Pedi. She had a horrible ear infection and tested positive for strep. Good times in the Thompson household. Since all 3 kids are now on antibiotics we just chilled and took it easy for the rest of the weekend. I only left the house once and that was to go to the grocery store yesterday. The kids are climbing the walls today and I am too!! I hope the weather is nice for the next couple of days because we are ready to get out and about!!!

Happy Birthday Sweet Pea!!

Today Kohen is officially 10 months old. Kohen has had a pretty rough week, but she is recovering from her ear infection and for the most part we have our happy baby back again. Kohen is at such a fun age and we are just loving every minute of it. She has developed quite the personality and her new thing is to shy away from people that she does not know. Last Sunday at chruch when anyone would come up and talk to her she would just turn her eyes down and turn her face into my shoulder. It was too cute. Kohen now has offically 4 teeth and is working on more. She is crawling all over the place, pulling up on things, and is a general busy body. She is always wanting to know what is going on. Can you guys believe that in 2 more months our baby girl is going to be 1 yr old?? Saying that we have a 1 year old is just going to be mind-blowing!! I'm already gearing up and planning for a big 1st birthday bash. I know these next two months are just going to fly by and before I know it we will be singing happy birthday dear Kohen. Happy 10 months sweet pea!! We love you!!!

Prayers Needed

I have followed this family's blog for months now and they are in desperate need of some prayers. Please pray for baby Stellan and his family. They really need them right now.

Prayers for Stellan

My adorable niece and nephew!!

Check out my adorable niece and nephew. Aren't these portraits amazing?? They are so stinking cute!! I told Jennifer once you get good quality professional pics done, there is no turning back. I told her I felt a photography addiction coming on,lol. You guys know all about my Teri Mason photography obsession and I would not have it any other way. I have found a family photographer for life and I'm always thinking about our next photo opt.

I can not wait to see what Jenn picks out and how they will display these portraits in their home. I know they will look amazing!! Portraits really do speak volumes and it is amazing how much happiness can be generated when you look at them.

Wake up call

My wake up call was not pleasant this morning. The Pedi call this morning and guess what?? Kaden's overnight strep test tested positive for strep:-( The good news is that the antibiotics he is currently on for his ears should take care of the strep. I guess this means no playdates and etc for us for the rest of this week. Hopefully, Kensley and Kohen will remain strep free....fingers and toes crossed!!

Back from the pedi and a bag full of meds

We just got back from the Pedi and both of Kaden's ears were red and retracting and were starting to become infected yet again. Sure enough if we would have waited they would have only gotten worse. He was tested for strep again due to a red and swollen throat, but it came back negative thank goodness. We are thinking the infections might be allergy induced so we are scratching everything we have been doing allergy/sinus wise and are starting with some new treatments. Hopefully we can get him dried out and just focus on daily maintenance. Right now he is starting a new antibiotic, a steroid nasal mist, and a new liquid antihistamine/decongestive. After we finish up the antihistamine/decongestive then we will continue with the mist and a daily allergy med. Right now I'm just wondering how I am going to remember all of this, lol. I guess it will not be that bad because according to the scrpits he takes it all at night. The Pedi wanted me to follow up with the ENT so we have an appt on the 6th of April to discuss the ear and sinus problems. I'm hoping we see a difference and remain infection free with the new treatments. If this does not work the Pedi is definitely recommending another set of tubes. I guess we will wait and see what happens with the new treatments and the follow up ENT appt.

What's up Doc

We've been up to our ears in doctor appts so I figured I would post some updates for inquiring mind. Let's rewind to last Friday. We had Kensley follow up ENT appt and she has had 2 double ear infections since our last appt, which was 6 weeks ago. Ears are free of infection at the moment, but are full of fluid. If she remains infection free we will just keep going back every 6 weeks to monitor fluid and check hearing. If another infection develops before we go back in 6 week the ENT wants to put another set of tubes in. So, that is where we are with Miss Kensley's ears.

Today Kaden had his cavity filled and he did great. He gave me a high five at the door and then walked back to the room with the dental assistant for his procedure. He was gone a little over an hr and came out of the procedure a little silly. He loved the purple nitrous gas mask he got to keep and proceeded to ask for another one because he thought it was cool. I was so relieved that he did well. I brought the big guns aka Nanu along with me today because I was not sure how he would react and if I would be able to handle all the kiddos, but everything went smooth. I'm hoping we will not have to repeat this process anytime soon since we are now daily flossing.

After Kaden's appt we then visited the Pedi for Kensley's 3yr well check. The well check also turned into a sick check for Kohen. Kensley's 3 yr well check was great. She has hit every single milestone and got an A++++++++++ report. Oh yeah, no shots at this appt, yahoooo!! We still have a little peanut on our hands. Kensley weighted in at a whopping 26lbs(5%), she's barley on the charts for weight. For her height is is 38 1/4 inches tall(25-50%). The Pedi is not worried about her weight because she is following the same curve as her brother did and other than the ear/sinus/allergy problems she is healthy. I love and live for good appts!!

As I mentioned Kensley's well check turned into a sick appt for Kohen. Saturday night we had a rough night with Kohen. She was up most of the night. I figured her teeth were bothering her and just blew it off as no big deal. Sunday rolled around and she basically cried and fussed all day. I had a hunch something was going on, but no fever so I just gave her some Motrin and wrote it off as teething again. Today rolls around and much of the same. This is definitely not my baby. Kohen hardly ever cries. Last night I happened to notice that Kohen left ear piercing looked a little red and I was concerned that she might be having a reaction to the new ear rings I had just put in a few days ago. I went to clean the piercing and noticed that the back was missing. I noticed her messing with her ear throughout the day, but just figured it might had been the ear ring. Since the back had come off, I put her old ear ring back in and she screamed and then kept tugging at her. At this point still no fever so I figured it was the piercing. Another rough night unveiled last night. At lunch today Ken said she felt warm. Sure enough I asked the pedi to take her temp at Kensley's appt and she was running a 103 temp. They gave us some Motrin and saw her after Kensley's appt and sure enough.....a pus filled left ear. We are not sure if the right ear is infected because they can not see the ear drum due to a wax blockage. They tried to get it out, but it is too deep and she was screaming her little head off. If she is not better in 48 hrs they want us to come back so they can flush the blocked ear. They put her on antibiotics and I'm hoping she feels better soon. She was doing better this evening until the Motrin wore off and the fever came back. I hope she gets better soon because I want my happy baby back. I hope this is just an isolated incident and not the beginning of chronic ear problems. Kensley's infections started between 6-9 months and Kaden was around 2 1/2. I'm hoping I will on be only 2 for 3 with ear problems and not 3 for 3.

Are you guys ready for the kicker??? While I was typing this post, my Mom called and guess what??? Kaden is now crying with his ear. He told Nanu that he did not want to say his ear was hurting earlier because he was afraid I would not let him go to Nanu's. Grrr.....we were just at the doctor, Kaden!!! If I would have only known. We just treated him for a sinus infection/ear infection, what a week or so ago?? Just like the last time that his tubes came out, the chronic ear infections started back up and we had to put in another set of tubes. He was tube free for a little over a month. As soon as the tubes came out he developed 3 ear infections within that same month and back in the tubes went again. Are we going down the same road again??? I have no idea what is going on with our kiddo's ears. I guess we will see how tonight goes with Kaden, but something is telling me I will be heading back to the Pedi again tomorrow. Boy,oh boy, what a pain in the ear...literally!!!

Diamonds....

Diamonds really are girl's best friend:-) Papu this is for you. I finally switched out Kohen's ear rings on Friday to the diamonds that you got for her before she was even born. She is now officially blinged out, lol. They are adorable. Also take note, she is sporting the yellow dress that you picked out for her as well. She wore it to chuch yesterday and got a ton of compliments. The story behind the yellow dress is that when I was little my Dad bought me a yellow Easter dress and when he saw this one while shopping for the kiddos with my Mom he had to get it because it reminded him of the dress he got me when I was small. Awwww, yes, my Dad is the BEST!!

Pirates and Pixies

Saturday was all about pixies and pirates. Kaden and Kensley could hardly wait until it was time for Maddie and Ava's birthday party to begin. Once we arrived they did not know what to do first....treasure hunt, decorate fairy wings or a pirate hat, jump in the tinker bounce house, and the list goes one. Let's just say, by the end of the party they had done everything 50 times over. Saying they had a blast is a total understatement. As we drove off from the party, Kaden said, "Mom that was the best party ever." WTG, Jenn and John. You guys know how to throw a birthday bash. Happy birthday Ava and Maddie. Hope you guys had the best birthday ever. Thanks for inviting us!!

Sneaky Golfers

When we 1st moved in Ken tip toed onto the golf course during sunset one evening with the kids to let them play the hole near our house. As you can imagine, they have been begging for months to do it again, but up until the recent time change it was out of the question because it was always dark once Ken got home from work. This evening as we were coming home from dinner Ken asked if they wanted to quickly get Kaden's club and head over to hole number 6. They screamed with excitement. Here's our sneaky golfers......

Jump Around

Today the kids and I met up with my MOPS group at Hoppin Hippo and we had a hoppin good time. This place was fanstaic and since it is pretty close to our house, I'm thinking this is going to be a new place that we frequent. I really liked it because A. it was super clean,B. it is geared for children 0-7, C. it has Wi-Fi, and D. only a few miles from our house.

BTW, check out Kohen and Kensley's adorable matching shirts. My friend Christine is making these and the proceeds are helping raise money for Cora's playground.

Sushi anyone??

After I became adventurous and tried sushi a few weeks ago, Christine suggested that we plan a family night and have dinner at a local sushi buffet so I would have the opportunity to really branch out with the sushi sampling without going broke. Sounded like fun to me, so Ken, the kids, and I met up with Christine, Brandon, and their crew for dinner and I did branch out a bit. Let see, I had the spicy tuna again, yellowtail, spicy crab, crab stick & crab legs, and a few other sushi wrap varieties with tempura crunchies on them. I can't remember their names, but, I really enjoyed them. Everything that Christine recommended, I really enjoyed. I then decided to stop because I did not want to sample something that I did not care for because I knew it would ruin the whole new sushi experience for me. I went out on a good note:-) Thanks Christine and Brandon for a fun get together. It was a great idea since I'm a sushi nubie and not to mention it was super fun. I now have a few more notches in my sushi belt.

Look at those Kung Fu skills

Seriously???

This is the 2nd morning in a row that Kohen has pulled up on something. Yesterday she pulled up on the ottoman and today she chose her leapfrog table. Seriously, what happened to our teeny tiny baby????

Happy St. Patty's Day!!!!!

Hope everyone enjoyed St. Patty's Day and were lucky enough to find their pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

Our day started off with a green breakfast, compliments of green food coloring. I served up
green milk, green toast, green eggs accented with cilantro, and bacon. Now that I'm looking at the picture I can see why the kids did not touch it. They told me YUCK and insisted on something normal for breakfast. Fun idea and E for effort, but we trashed it and had powdered donuts instead. I mean, really what was I thinking???The toast looks like it is growing mold
Lunch was better and I played it safe with "normal" food.
Here's the lucky leprechaun crew and this was the response I got when I asked if they wanted a green lunch.

This evening we celebrated St. Patty's Day "Cajun style" with friends at Razzoo's. It was a lot of fun and the perfect ending to a fun day.

Special Delivery

Today Papu tried to pull a sneaky one. I busted him delivering Kensley's birthday gift. I just happened to be upstairs and looked out the window and saw him in our backyard setting up her play house. I told Kensley she had a surprise waiting for her in the backyard. She immeditaly bolted for the backdoor and was grinning from ear to ear and running to see Papu. Honeslty, I think she was more excited to see Papu than she was to see her new playhouse. Of course, when Papu left the tears flowed because she wanted to go home with Papu. However, the tears finally stopped when I severed her a snack in her new playhouse. Thanks Mom&Dad for the adorable playhouse. I know it will get a lot of playtime for years to come.

Hendrix, the rubber chicken

These pictures just cracked me up yesterday. Kaden begged me for this dang rubber chicken in the grocery store. I caved and ended up getting it for him just so we could get in and out. He played with this ugly thing for hours yesterday. He could not wait for Ken to get home so he could introduce him to his rubber chicken named Hendrix. Not sure why Kaden named him after our deceased dog, but I just went with it and did not question him. Yesterday, Hendrix played outside, went for a ride in Kaden's Ford truck, played on the playscape, jumped on the trampoline, went for a swing ride, and then was eventually cooked up and served to Kensley. Not sure if all of this is funny or disturbing.

Do you see what I see??

Baby girl now has her 2 front teeth. Kohen's other front tooth broke through today. That makes a grand total of 4 now.

Southern Living At Home

Well because I'm afraid that I might want to order something in the future, I renewed my Southern Living At Home Sales Consultant contract today. I was up for my yearly renewal and debated on renewing since I have really not sold anything in a while, but the fear of not being able to order when I wanted to ended up talking me back into renewing my yearly contract. I've been an on again off again sales consultant since before I got pregnant with Kaden. I've become quite obsessed with their entertaining pieces and like most thing I get involved with I become obsessed with buying/collecting. I can already hear Ken yelling at me and asking me if we need another serving platter and of course the answer would be.... yes, dear we do,lol. He tells me that I'm my best customer. Is there something wrong with that?? If you are ever in need of anything from Southern Living At Home, just contact me and I can take care of you. Here's a link to the Spring Catalog if you would like to take a peek. I've also attached the March specials.

Kensley birthday celebration

Last night we celebrated Kensley's 3rd birthday Japanese style. Ken and I had so much fun at Tokyo Steakhouse last weekend that we decided to go back for Kensley's birthday/our anniversary dinner with my parents and sister. The kids LOVED it and I'm pretty sure my parents and sister enjoyed it too. It reminded us all of having dinner in Japan. Cheryl even broke out with her Japanese to our chef, but it turned out that he was Vietnamese. However, he was still pretty impressed with her Japanese. I have a feeling this is going to be a new family favorite restaurant for us. We had a wonderful birthday/anniversary dinner. Thanks Mom&Dad for dinner and the awesome anniversary card/funds. Just when I thought the evening could not get any better it did because I had a dozen red roses and a gift certificate to She Etc sitting on the table for our anniversary when we got home. I can not wait for my day of pampering. Here are a few pics from dinner.

Make a wish sweet birthday girl!!
This weekend we will be celebrating Kensley's birthday with family and friends. We ended up having to change our initial plans of having a petting zoo in our back yard due to the cold and rainy weather. We played it safe and opted for an indoor party at a local jump place. Kensley is really looking forward to this weekend and I'm looking forward to picking up her cake. I ordered her a hot pink and zebra patterned cake. It should be super cute!! Thanks Gigi, Papa Chris, Pappa Phil& Nanny Elaine for the birthday cards/funds. We got them in the mail today.

Well checks and more

On Monday we had a routine dental appt for Kaden and guess what?? Our little man has a tiny cavity and I felt like such a horrible mom. I know cavities happen, but the dentist said the cavity is between his teeth in the back and we need to be more diligent about flossing. I've totally beat myslef up over this dang cavity. We go back next week for Kaden 1st filling. That should be an interesting appointment. From here on out we are daily flossing the kids instead of our here and there flossings.

After Kaden's dental appt we moved on to Kohen's 9 month well check. She is growing like a weed and hitting all of her milestones. The Doc did say that Kohen had the croup and an ear infection. I had no idea because Kohen is just the happiest baby and has not run a fever or been cranky at all. The Doc wants to see her back if the cough get worse so she can treat with a steriod. Right now we are just taking the wait and see approach and she seems to be doing pretty good. Miss Koko is 27 1/4 in length(50-75%), 17 lbs and 8 ounces in weight(25-50%), and her head is 44(50%). She's just perfect. Many of you may wonder what Kohen is doing at 9 months so I figured I would list a few things:

1. She's pretty much given up baby food. Since our trip to Mexico she has wanted nothing but table food. She will still do a few pureed things, but she mainly wants to feed herself and eat what we are eating. She's very independent!! She has master the pincher grasp and everything and I mean everything goes straight to her mouth.
2. She is crawling all over the place and is trying really hard to pull up on things.
3. She says Momma, Dada, Bubba and of course we think it is all in context, lol. She loves to babble and we all love hearing it.
4. She has 3 teeth and is about to cut her other front tooth. I bet there will be a new front tooth post in a few days.
5. She can also clap.

Here she is hanging out in her favorite place. Yep, it is under the coffee table. Ken says this is her safe place and that is why she likes to hang out under the table.
Today I had my routine cardiologist appt and all was well. My VSD looks to be the same as it was last year, which is a good thing. My EKG was normal and this year I did not need to get an echocardiogram. We will only need to do that every other year. Doc said to keep doing what I'm doing and he would see me again next year for my routine appt. A++++ appt in my book.

3 yrs old already and 9 years and counting???

How did we go from this....
to this.....
Happy birthday sweet baby girl. We love you so very much! For there is nothing greater nor sweeter than a gift from God and a gift from God, you are indeed. We were so richly blessed with your birth on our wedding anniversary. How sweet is that???I love that we will always share this special day.

9 years ago, I could never imagine it getting any better than this...
but I so wrong. Every year it just keeps getting better and better. I've been blessed beyond my wildest imagination. Happy anniversary Ken. I love you so very much. Without you, none of my dreams would have come true. I am indeed one richly blessed woman!!

Dinner with the Dowells

Last night we went to dinner with Tabitha, Jason, and Parker and it was so much fun. We had dinner at Tokyo Steakhouse and not only was it very entertaining, but very delicious. I became somewhat adventurous and tried sushi for the 1st time. Crazy to think that I would not give sushi a chance in the sushi capital of the world. Now I'm thinking that I might have missed out big time when we were in Japan because guess what??? I had the spicy tuna last night and I really liked it. I have always been afraid to try it because I figured it would be fishy and the texture would be gross, but it was neither. It was really good and I liked the spice. Now I think Cheryl and I are going to have to go out for sushi since she is the sushi queen and she can tell me all the things that I should try next. I'm really getting adventurous in my old age, lol. Jason and Ken had the shrimp and steak, while Tabitha had lobster and shimp, and I lobster and chicken. Everything was awesome, especially the lobster. We will definitley have dinner here again. I know K&K would love the atmosphere and having the grill at the table would definitley remind them of eating in Japan. Thanks Tabitha and Jason for dinner. We had a super time and are looking forward to doing it again soon!!!

A visit to the country

For the last month or so my Mom and Dad have been making day trips to their property that is seriously located in the middle of nowhere and my Dad has been clearing the land, cutting down brush, and etc. Ken and I decided that it would be fun to meet up with my parents and let the kids run free and fish. About 30 minutes into the trip Kaden started asking are we there yet and he proceeded to asked about every 5 minutes until we arrived. The kids were so excited and once we arrived they were on cloud 9. We had a quick lunch and started fishing. The stock pond was rather low and muddy, but we still had a ton of fun. Kaden was amazed that Mommy knew how to fish and I have to toot my own horn because I out fished everyone!! I was on FIRE!! Ken and I had a fishing competition going and I won. As I was casting out, so many great childhood memories came flooding back and I remember actually swimming here as a child, my Dad teaching me how to fish at this very tank, how to shoot a 22, how to drive a tractor, and etc. I'm so glad that I am able to make and share some of the very same memories with our kids. Today was a lot of fun and we are all looking forward to doing it again.

Here's the 1st fish I caught today

6 kids and a pantry without a lock

This is what happens when there is no lock on the pantry door and there are 6 kids running around with ages ranging from 5yrs to 9mths. The older 4 kiddos had their own definition of snack time outside. The got tired of waiting on me to fix them a snack so they proceeded to help themselves and empty the pantry(chips, fruit loops, fruit snacks, and etc.) onto the trampoline and chow down. I mean, how could I get upset when I saw them on all 4's eating like animals in a cage, lol?? Yep, never a dull moment at the Thompson household.

Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood...

Today was a beautiful day. We hit in the upper 80's and the kids had a ball playing outside. We totally took advantage of the beautiful weather by hitting up 2 local parks and by also have lunch outside at Pei Wei. These are the type of days I live for because there is nothing better than having happy and worn out kids at the end of the day.

Love,Love,Love

I love, love, love, our family photographer, Teri Mason. She has been capturing our family for almost a year and I'm ADDICTED to her photography BIG TIME. Her style is amazing, her creativity ROCKS, the quality is superb, and I could go on and on. I think it will be Teri's fault when I tell Ken we need a new house because I have run out of space to hang all all of our Teri Mason portraits. Just kidding Teri & Ken:-) I still have several blanks spaces that need to be filled and I could not think of a better way to fill those spaces than portraits Teri has taken or will take of our family. Teri has this amazing way of capturing our family that is totally priceless, it always leaves me speechless and wanting more. Hi, my name is Cheri and I have a Teri Mason photography obsession. I'm soooo addicted!!! Click here to see our chunky monkey, Kohen from an unplanned mini session. Thanks so much Teri, seeing these on your blog today was an unexpected surprise and just made my Monday even more fabulous!!

A night out....

Yes, we do get out every now and then without kids and this time I have pics to prove it!! A big shout out goes to my parents for keeping K&K and for my sister and Eric for keeping Kohen. They made our fun night out possible. Last night Ken and I attended the annual fund raising Gala for the Round Rock Women's Chaparrals Club. We had a blast and it was so much fun getting dressed up. Here are a few pics from our Night In Casablanca with the Hubbs.
