Gigi Gat's Hero

On Saturday we meet Gigi in San Antonio to hand off our sick cat. Gatlynn has been sick on and off for a couple of months now and Gigi being the animal lover she is could not resist in attempting to nurse her back to health. A BIG THANKS to Papa Chris for allowing Gigi to take on another cat and house Gat temporarily. In reality, Gigi is probably Gat's only chance at survival. Ken and I could not keep up remembering to give her the daily meds and all the required attention that she needed. 2 kids, a dog, readying our house for the market, and a baby on the way has kept us quite busy. The kids obliviously take priority and then everything else. The kids were also driving Gat crazy!!! They just would not leave her alone. Yep, that's my kiddos, constant animal aggravators. Apparently, Gigi is already making strides in nursing Gat back to health. Gat has not thrown up while in her care yet, which was a multiple daily occurrence at our house. Trust me, it was not a pretty site watching a preggo lady attempting to clean up cat throw up. After several dry heaves and gags later I would eventually get it all cleaned up. I know, gross!!! Today Gigi is taking Gat to Dr. Rogers to see what else is going on with her and what else we need to do to get her back on the road to recovery. I'll post an update laster. Hopefully, it is good news. We shall see. Thanks again Gigi!! We love you and so does Gat!!

ENT Update

Late this afternoon both of the kids had an appt with our ENT to have the placement of their ear tubes checked. It was a pretty easy appt because Daddy went with us. He got to chase the monkeys around in the doctor's office for a change:-) We sure have enjoyed him being home this past week. The help has been awesome and I've gotten somewhat of a break. Well, somewhat of a break....I've referred to him as my 3rd child several times thoughout his vacation because I swear he fights with Kaden and Kensley just like another sibling . However, come Wednesday the kids are going to be sad to see him go back to work and so will Mommy. Okay, so back to our appt. The doctor said everything looked great. Aside from Kensley's little cold, he told us that Kaden and Kensley were the healthiest kids he had seen all day. He told us to keep doing what we had been doing and he would see us again in 4 months. So, out the door we went with the good news. Kaden and Kensley have only had 1 ear infection since the placement of the tubes in August and that is much better than this time last year. Yay, the tubes are doing their job!!!

Bowling Fun

Yesterday we had a fun family outing to the bowling alley. Thanks Papa Phil and Nanny Elaine for funding our family outing. We put your Christmas money to good use. The kids had a blast. Kensley and I observed while Kaden and Daddy showed off their professional bowling skills. Kaden is almost a pro bowler, well pro bowler for a 4 year old. Looks like Kensley will be following in his footsteps. Daddy helped her roll the ball a couple of times. However, I think she had more fun dancing to the music. Actually, Kaden and her both showed off their moves and had quite the auidence in the bowling alley. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the good news. Right before we left to go bowling, I got a call from my doctor's office and I PASSED the 3 hr glucose test. So, it looks like at this time I do not have diabetes!!! As soon as I got off the phone with the nurse, I was like YES, no diet!!! Well, I barely got those words out of my mouth and the doctor's office called back and told me I needed to remain on the diabetes diet so it doesn't decide to creep back up later on in my pregnancy since I had it with Kensley. So much for celebrating. I cheated a tiny tad for lunch, but I was good for the rest of the day.

Does My Diabetes Diet Really Start Today???

Is Christmas really over? Do I really have to start sticking to my diabetes diet?? I guess harsh reality is sitting in, the holidays are wrapping up, and I must get back on my diet track. Ba-Humbug!!! Did getting back on track really have to come at 7:00 this morning?? I left the house around 7:30 and headed to CPL to start my 3 hour glucose test since I failed the hr test. This brings back memories of my pregnancy with Kensley. NO COFFEE, NO BREAKFAST, NO FUN!!! I arrived at the lab and had my 1st blood draw at 8:00, got to drink that YUCKY solution, another blood draw at 9:00, another blood draw at 10:00, and my last was at 11:00. Lets just say the lab tech's calling was NOT drawing blood. My arms hurt and they have already started to bruise. So, a very grumpy and hungry preggo lady headed out of the lab in search for Taco Bell. I was going to say to heck with the diet today, I'll start tomorrow. However, Ken and the kids called and they wanted Mickey D's. I hate Mickey D's, but gave into the demands of begging kids. So, being the good Mommy I am, I came home with Happy Meals for the kids, a burger combo for Ken and a lovely salad for myself. I was hungry again an hour later!!!

Christmas Morning

Ken and I woke up somewhere around 6:30 on Christmas Morning. As I was sitting there waiting for the kids to wake up, Baby K gave me a couple of good kicks and I thought to myself how truly blessed we have been this year. I am so thankful for all the things in our life. We have so much to be grateful for and we have so many great things to look forward to in '08. So, after I got over my sentimental moment, Ken tracked down my Sister and Parents to find out there whereabouts. They always come over to our house Christmas morning to partake in the madness. So, Auntie Chur-Chur, Nanu, and Papu arrived around 7:30 and Ken and I woke the kiddos up. Kaden darted out of bed and was charging like a raging bull down the stairs. We were all laughing so hard. Kensley was even laughing. Seeing the kids excitement was priceless!! Kaden headed straight for his drum set and started banging away. He told us he was going to dye is hair blue and paint his face and join The Blue Man Group. I really think he just might grow up to be a musician. He is totally fascinated with music. He next discovered his Moto bike and Spiderman Scooter. Kensley was on cloud 9 with her vanity. She is totally our little model/movie star in the making. Seriously, if we had only gotten her make up for Christmas she would have been totally satisfied. She soon discovered her princess trike and princess ride on. After the big Santa discoveries were found, the craziness started. The kids had a blast ripping into all the presents. 30 bags of trash and several hours later our house was still in holiday shambles.

After all of the presents had been opened, toys played with, and very minimal cleaning, we ventured out to our traditional Christmas Day movie. We all went to see The Water Horse. Kensley made it maybe through the 1st 20 minutes and soon her and Papu crashed out. Kaden on the other hand was glued to the movie. I was a little surprised that he was so captivated by the movie since he did not do so well with Alvin and the Chipmunks. We all really enjoy the movie and Kensley and Papu enjoyed their nap. According to Kaden, we must now find a Water Horse. So, the search is now on for our very own Water Horse. Our hermit crabs are now a thing of the past:-) So, the next time we head down to Corpus Christie to visit Gigi and Papa Chris we are sure to head down to the jetties to see if we can find our very own Water House.

Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve with Nanu and Papu aka my parents was awesome as usual. The food ROCKED!! I was very bad and did not stick to my diabetes diet at all, but hey it is the holidays and after they are over I must get back to the grind.

So, I must say that I do have the best parents in the whole wide world!!! They spoil us every year. Thanks Mom and Dad for an awesome Christmas and thanks for giving the kids everything they wanted and more. I was not exaggerating when I said we would need a u-haul to get all of goodies from their house. Toys galore, flat screens, and one severely overloaded Honda Pilot we finally got back to our house Christmas Eve night. Kensley fell asleep on the way home so Kaden had to prepare the cookies and milk for Santa and carrots for the reindeer solo. Kaden was so excited to put out the cookies and carrots. He wanted to sleep on the couch so that he could see Santa when he delivered all of his presents and he wanted to pet the reindeer. Somehow, Ken and I finally got him up to his bedroom and FINALLY got him to sleep. I had a hard time sleeping Christmas Eve night. I was so excited for the kids to wake up Christmas morning and not to mention that they both ended up in our bed sometime during the night. So, between the excitement and a good kick or a hand to the head every now and then Ken and I got very little sleep.

Santa enjoyed the cookies and milk

The reindeer enjoyed the carrots and made a mess

Holiday Fun

Despite the kids being a little under the weather, we have still managed to have a lot of holiday fun. On Thursday night we visited the trail of lights in Zilker Park. We luckily made this outing before the nasty coughs and snotty noses started. The kids were so excited to see all of the lights and they had so much fun spinning under the big Zilker Christmas Tree. Funnel cake, kettle corn, and 2 led swords later the kids were pooped out. Somehow Nanu managed to carry Kensley all the way back to the truck and Kaden got a crazy wagon ride from Papu. Before we even pull out of the parking lot the kids were sound asleep in their carseats. I will post pics of this event as soon as I am able to download the pics from Papu's camera. Go figure, out of a million rechargeable batteries we had zero charged for this outing so Papu was the photographer of the night.

Yesterday Auntie Santa aka Auntie Chur-Chur came over and brought Christmas ornaments for the kids to paint for her tree. Kensley did a great job of painting her little bear ornament. She neatly went with a nice pink/purple combination. However, Picasso Kaden went for the abstract look and painted every ornament in sight. Along with the kitchen counter, his shirt, and then all of his mixed paint ended up on the floor. The paint washed up and all was well. We hope that Auntie Chur Chur enjoys these ornaments for years to come.

After dinner and a broken porcelain crown later...yes, my maybe 8 year old porcelain crown broke into at dinner last night. I was eating a salad and I was like wow that is one crunch bacon bit. I soon realized it was my crown. I will be making a much dreaded trip to the dentist after Christmas for repairs. So, needless to say I did not eat any of the candy that we used for the gingerbread house. Elissa, one of Ken's co-workers, sent home an awesome gingerbread house kit for the kids. Thanks Elissa!! I'm not sure who had more fun decorating the house...the kids or Ken and I. Nothing like getting the kids all sugared up before bedtime. Oh well, it's the holidays!! Well, we will be heading out soon to celebrate Christmas Eve with Nanu and Papu . I'm sure we will need a u-haul to get all of the kids loot home from their house. More Christmas updates and pics to follow.

Can you say SUGAR???

Yesterday we had Kaden's Christmas party at his school. It was a sugar packed event. We had a blast. We made gingerbread houses, reindeer, had a book gift exchange, and munched on lots of yummy snacks.

Santa Photo

Blog Kick Off and Santa Pics

So, Courtney has inspired me to create a blog. Usually there is a crazy adventure everyday and the idea of this blog is to keep family and friends up to date. Yes, you will get to hear all about my crazy life. I hope that you all enjoy reading about our adventures and seeing our photos!!! I will 1st start by posting the kids Santa Photo. Most of you probably have already seen the picture and heard the story, but for those of you who have not here is the email and photo that I sent out:

Well, I think the picture says it all….Kaden was totally excited to see Santa. His grin was so big that his top lip stuck to his front teeth and Kensley just wanted to run away. She was not a big Santa fan this year. Not sure that Kaden helped the situation because he kept telling her that she would not get any toys from Santa if she cried. I told the photographer no matter how the picture turned out we would still purchase because it would make for a great story later on when the kids are bigger and plus a great scrapbook page. The kids are very much looking forward to Christmas. Kaden’s list is a mile long and Kensley already has the “I want” syndrome at such an early age. Needless to say, they will get spoiled and our toy wonderland will continue to expand!!
Kaden is creeping on 4 ½ now and is all boy!!! He is very much looking forward to being a big brother again. He has even offered to change diapers. That would be a sight to see. I know he will be a great helper and once again an awesome big brother. Kensley is 21 months now so that means my baby is creeping on 2. She is very verbal and she is not afraid to let you know what she wants!! She is usually demanding her shoes, lip gloss, or a bow. Yep, just like brother is all boy she is all girl. She knows that there is a baby in Mommy’s tummy, but I really do not think she knows what that means just yet. Well, come May she will find out soon enough. I am sure she will be a great big sister.
Ken and I are doing great and my belly is totally expanding!! The pregnancy is flying by so fast this time around. However, we are really trying to enjoy every moment of it because more than likely this will be our last or so we think this is our last because we thought that same thing after Kensley was born and surprise. My doc appts have been going really well, but it looks like I’ve been hit with gestational diabetes again. So, I am back on the diabetes diet and yes that is loads of fun especially with the holidays coming up. Our next appt is going to be on the 9th of Jan and we will be finding out the gender. We are super excited and can not wait to know if Baby K is going to be a boy or a girl. So, be expecting an email from us announcing BOY or Girl on the 9th.
We hope that everyone is doing well and we wish you all a very Merry Christmas!!! I have been a slacker this year and did not get around to taking a family photo for our Christmas cards so be expecting a New Years card from us. The Thompsons will be wishing everyone a Happy New Year!!!
